Outside my window  Flycatcher’s “peep, peep”  Welcomes in the day

Absorbing sunbeams  And nourishment from the soil  Golden peas abound

Essential water  Holds balance of life and death  Keeping it in flow

Sparkling fluff blossoms  Could be anything at all  Out of this world

Cut back – left for dead  Stump sprouts in all directions  Life unstoppable

No gardener here Where wild iris spread freely In marsh meadowland 

The power of grass  How is it dry hay sustains  Such creatures as these?

Red-wing blackbirds sing Swallows skim the lake’s surface Fish jump from water

Pink tinged roses hang Like clouds colored by sunrise Decorating space
