Patient surrender  The hunter’s wife waits for news  Unable to help

Across the valley  Elk bugle in the distance  Camp fire flames dancing     With a relieved sigh  The man settles in his chair  Soon the hunt begins

Even clumps of grass  Signal fall’s impermanence  Nature’s messenger

Steadfast companions  Fanned tails flying side by side  Inseparable

Striped sky water bands  Clustered waves of dark and light  Hang heavy wetness

In a quiet forestDwarfed by towering giantsRaindrops softly fall

This body swaying  Rhythmic movement side to side  Strolling on my horse

What is that weird noise?  A line of strutting turkeys  Parades by squawking
